What Is Stake Casino?
This is an independent guide to Stake.com, not the operator’s site. We earn a commission when you register through our links. The figures below come from Stake’s published terms and help pages, and the weak points sit next to the strong ones. Two things define Stake: a crypto-first wallet and an offshore licence. Most of what follows comes back to one or the other. You must be 18 or older, or the age of majority in your province, to play.
Stake Casino is the name most Canadian players use for Stake.com, an online casino and sportsbook owned and operated by Medium Rare N.V., a company registered in Curaçao. Stake opened its casino in 2017 with a set of in-house games called Stake Originals and has since added slots, live dealer tables, poker and a sportsbook under one account.
The wallet is the main difference. It is crypto-first: you can hold and move 21 cryptocurrencies, see your balance in Canadian dollars and deposit CAD through Interac bank transfer. The library lists more than 6,000 titles from over 260 slot publishers, plus 150+ live casino titles and 30+ Stake Originals, and the interface runs in 17 languages. Live chat is open 24 hours a day, every day, with a Help Centre behind it.
Stake also puts money into sport and entertainment. Its partnership list includes UFC, Everton FC, Drake, Team Vitality, Astralis and X Games. A sponsor list says nothing about licensing or fairness, so the sections below stick to the terms, the licence and the products.
Stake runs a different product for players in the United States, with its own rules and its own coin system. This page covers Stake.com only.
Is Stake Casino Available in Canada?
Yes, outside Ontario and Alberta. Stake.com’s terms list the countries and regions it does not accept, and Ontario is the only Canadian territory on that list. No other province or territory is excluded, so players in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces can register.
“Stake Canada” covers two products. Stake.com serves most of the country. Alberta opened its own regulated iGaming market in 2026, and Alberta players use Stake’s Alberta site, licensed by the AGLC, instead of Stake.com. Ontario runs a separate regulated market overseen by the AGCO, and Stake has announced an Ontario site for 2026 that is not live yet. Until it is, Ontario residents have nothing to register for at Stake.com.
The licence matters. Stake.com holds a licence from the Curaçao Gaming Authority, number OGL/2024/1451/0918. It is not a licence from a Canadian provincial regulator, so the protections that come with a provincial licence do not apply to play on Stake.com. The page on Stake legal status in Canada covers the licence, the company and each province in detail. Read it before you deposit.
Stake Casino Games
The Stake online casino lobby splits into four groups.

Slots come from more than 260 publishers, including Pragmatic Play, Hacksaw Gaming, Nolimit City, Massive Studios, Twist Gaming, Paperclip Gaming, Donut Gaming, Titan Gaming and Backseat Gaming. Games tagged Only on Stake are exclusives that outside studios build on the Stake Engine, such as Sweet Fiesta 1000 from Pragmatic Play, Airstrike 2 from Titan Gaming and Tavern Drop from Paperclip Gaming.
Stake Originals are the in-house games: Dice, Mines, Plinko, Limbo, Keno, Crash, Hilo, Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat, Video Poker and more than 20 others. Stake Originals are provably fair, so each outcome can be checked through a third-party verification page. Third-party slots use random number generators.
The live casino holds 150+ titles from Evolution, Pragmatic Play Live and Animo Studios. They cover blackjack, roulette, baccarat, Dragon Tiger, Sic Bo, Live Monopoly and game shows such as Stock Market Live and Red Door Roulette. First Person RNG versions of the table games give you the same rules without a dealer.
Burst games are fast rounds on the Stake Engine, including Pragmatic Plinko+, MineDrop and Drop the Boss, and many are still in early access. Stake Poker sits next to them with cash tables, tournaments and jackpot formats, with JAQKpot! prizes up to $1,000,000.
Most games have a Fun Play toggle that lets you try a title with no spending and no winnings. Games load in Real Play by default, so check the mode before the first spin. The full catalogue is on the Stake casino games page.
Stake Bonuses and Rakeback
Stake Casino rewards you through rakeback and VIP progression rather than one large welcome package.
The welcome offer comes through an offer code supplied by an affiliate partner. After you register through the button on this page, you enter the code of the most recent offer in your account within 24 hours of signing up. Stake publishes no fixed welcome amount, so the figure in your account on the day is the one that counts. The Stake promo code page explains the steps.
Rakeback is the steady reward. 3.5% of the house edge comes back as cash on every casino game, win or lose, and the same 3.5% applies to the rake in poker and to the theoretical value of sportsbook bets. It unlocks at Bronze VIP, or from sign-up if you join through an affiliate partner, and you claim it any time from the Rakeback tab on the VIP page. A C$1,000 wager on a game with a 2% house edge carries an expected house take of C$20, so 3.5% rakeback on it is C$0.70. Rakeback softens losses a little. It does not turn a house edge into an advantage.
Active players also see a weekly boost, a monthly bonus, reloads from Platinum level, Daily Races with a $100,000 prize pool every 24 hours and a Weekly Raffle worth $75,000, with one ticket for every $1,000 wagered on casino and sportsbook. Those two prize pools are examples of the current schedule, and promotions rotate. Bonus drops add first-come codes that Stake posts on its social channels. Every bonus has terms, and a deposit bonus carries a rollover. The Stake bonus page has the details.
Bonus drops work differently from the welcome code. Each drop is a unique, case-sensitive code that goes to the first players who redeem it, and Stake posts them on its main Telegram channel, the Daily Drops channel, the High Rollers channel, on X and during Eddie’s stream. You redeem a code from the Offers section of your account. Because drops run out in minutes, no website can keep a reliable list of them, and any page that promises one is guessing.
Stake VIP Program
The Stake VIP Program has 15 levels, from Bronze at 10,000 wagered to Obsidian at 1,000,000,000, with the wagered amount counted in USD terms. Sportsbook wagers count three times faster than casino wagers, so hockey bettors climb quickly.
Bronze unlocks the weekly bonus, the monthly bonus, level-up rewards and rakeback. Gold adds bonus growth, Platinum I to III add daily reloads, and Platinum IV and above come with a dedicated VIP host. Diamond levels add bespoke benefits. Stake says it has paid out around $14 billion in bonuses and rewards since it reinvented VIP in 2019, with almost 1 million players in the program. The ladder, level by level, is on the Stake VIP Program page.
Stake Deposits and Withdrawals
Canadian players have two ways to fund a Stake account: CAD through Interac, and cryptocurrency.
CAD runs through the wallet’s local currency mode. Choose Deposit, pick Local currency, enter an amount, and Stake sends you to a third-party page where you select your bank, log in to online banking and approve the transfer. A deposit can take up to 24 hours to show as successful or failed, and money from a failed deposit that left your bank should return within 3 business days. Interac withdrawals go back to the method you deposited with and take up to 3 business days. A CAD withdrawal needs identity verification at Level 2, with a passport, national ID card or driving licence, and 100% of a CAD deposit must be wagered before you can withdraw.
One detail to know: the wallet can show your balance in more than 25 fiat currencies, CAD included, but that view is indicative only, because transactions settle in crypto.
Crypto covers 21 coins, including BTC, ETH, LTC, DOGE, USDT and SOL. Stake sets no maximum deposit or withdrawal, and each coin has its own withdrawal minimum on the withdrawal screen. If you do not hold crypto, you can buy it through partners such as MoonPay or swap one coin for another inside the wallet. Stake publishes no CAD minimum or maximum and no crypto withdrawal time, and it may charge a withdrawal fee at its discretion, on top of the network fee shown for each coin. The Stake deposits and withdrawals page has the full breakdown.
Stake Sportsbook
The Stake sportsbook runs live and pre-match markets next to the casino on the same wallet. Canadian players will notice the ice hockey coverage first: the NHL is listed at the top, followed by the AHL, ECHL, Elite League, SHL, VHL, Eliteserien, Liiga and the World Championships, with moneyline, puck line and over/under totals. Other sports, soccer among them, sit alongside hockey.
Cash-out is available on selected markets with a short delay, Same Game Multi lets you combine selections from a single game, and Stake Shield adds protection to multis. For the 2026-27 NHL season Stake runs NHL Boosted Odds on select games. The boosts apply to single pre-match bets only, are not available in multis and cannot be combined with other offers. Sportsbook play also feeds your VIP level and your rakeback, so a hockey season counts toward the same ladder as the casino. More on the Stake Sportsbook Canada page.
Stake App and Mobile Play
Stake has no dedicated iOS or Android app. The site works as a progressive web app instead: open Stake.com in your phone’s browser and add it to the home screen, and it launches full screen like an app with the same login and balance. The mobile site covers the casino, the sportsbook and the wallet.
Nothing gets installed from an app store, so treat any file or listing that claims to be a Stake app with suspicion. The Stake app page walks through the steps for iPhone and Android.
Stake Sign-Up and Login
Registration starts from the button on this page. Create the account, confirm that you meet the age requirement, and enter the welcome offer code within 24 hours. Stake can ask for email and phone verification and for identity documents before a first deposit or withdrawal, and it can request documents at any time, so keep a clear passport, national ID or driving licence photo to hand.
The age requirement is 18, or the age of majority where that is higher. Ontario’s regulated market sets 19, and each province sets its own limit, so check yours. Returning players can use the Stake login page for the sign-in steps, 2FA and account recovery. The Stake promo code page covers the 24-hour window for the welcome offer.
Stake Support and Complaints
Support runs through live chat 24/7 and email, with a Help Centre and community channels on Telegram, X and a forum. Stake also publishes a complaints policy: you complain within 6 months, Stake acknowledges in writing within 1 week and sends a written response within 4 weeks, and complaints are handled in English. That process sits with Stake and its licence, not with a Canadian provincial regulator.
Stake Casino Pros and Cons
Strengths are on the left, and the limits that come with an offshore licence are on the right.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| 6,000+ games and 150+ live titles | Curaçao licence, not a Canadian provincial one |
| CAD through Interac plus 21 crypto coins | Ontario excluded, Alberta served by a separate Stake site |
| Provably fair Stake Originals with third-party verification | No iOS or Android app, web app only |
| 3.5% rakeback and weekly and monthly VIP bonuses | No fixed welcome figure published |
| NHL markets with boosted odds | 100% of a CAD deposit must be wagered before a CAD withdrawal |
| Live chat 24/7 | CAD withdrawals need Level 2 verification and take up to 3 business days |
Stake Casino Verdict
Stake Casino suits Canadian players outside Ontario and Alberta who want a deep game library, crypto banking and a rakeback-led VIP program. The trade-offs are real. The licence is offshore, a CAD deposit must be wagered once before it can be withdrawn, and the welcome offer has no published figure. If provincial regulation matters to you, read the legal status page before you register, and treat every bonus as entertainment value, not income.
Play Responsibly at Stake
Gambling is entertainment, and no bonus or VIP level changes the odds. Stake provides loss, wager and deposit limits, a break in play of 1 day, 1 week or 1 month, product exclusion for casino or sports, and self-exclusion with a minimum of 6 months. Setting or lowering a limit takes effect at once, while raising or removing one waits 24 hours. Read the responsible gambling page, set your limits before you play, and stop if it stops being fun.
Stake Casino Canada FAQ
Is Stake Casino legal in Canada?
Stake.com holds a Curaçao licence (OGL/2024/1451/0918) and excludes Ontario in its terms. The licence is not a Canadian provincial licence, so provincial consumer protections do not attach to it. Alberta players use Stake's Alberta site, which is licensed by the AGLC. The Stake legal status page covers each province in turn.
Is Stake available in Ontario?
No. Stake.com's terms prohibit Ontario, which runs its own regulated market. Stake has announced a separate Ontario site for 2026, but it is not live, so Ontario residents cannot register at Stake.com. The same terms treat any attempt to hide your location as a breach.
Can I deposit Canadian dollars at Stake?
Yes. CAD deposits go through Interac in the wallet's local currency mode. A deposit can take up to 24 hours to show, CAD withdrawals need Level 2 verification and take up to 3 business days, and 100% of a CAD deposit must be wagered before you withdraw. Crypto is the other route, with 21 coins and no maximum deposit.
Who owns Stake?
Stake.com is owned and operated by Medium Rare N.V., registered in Curaçao under number 145353. Some payment processing is handled by two wholly owned Cyprus subsidiaries, Medium Rare Limited and MRS Tech Ltd. Stake's product for US players is a separate service.
Is this the official Stake website?
No. This is an independent guide to Stake.com. The operator's own site is Stake.com, which you reach through the buttons on this page. Registrations made through those links earn this guide a commission, and that commission does not change the facts reported here.
Does Stake have an app?
Stake has no dedicated iOS or Android app. It runs as a progressive web app: open Stake.com in your mobile browser and add it to your home screen, and it launches full screen with the same login and balance. The Stake app page has the steps.
How old do you have to be to play at Stake in Canada?
You must be 18, or the legal age of majority where that is higher. Ontario sets 19 for its regulated market and other provinces set their own limits, so confirm the age that applies where you live before you register. Stake asks for identity documents and can request them at any time.
