Stake Casino Review Method
This Stake Casino review is independent: it is written about Stake.com, not by it, and it is built from the terms, help pages and product pages that Stake publishes itself. We earn a commission when you register through our links. Each section covers one part of the product and links to a page that goes deeper, so you can read it all or jump to the part you need.
Every fact in this review comes from the documents Stake publishes: the Terms, the complaints policy, the help articles, the VIP pages and the casino and sportsbook home pages. Where Stake gives a number, the review gives the number. Where Stake gives none, the review says so and prints none. That is why you will not find odds margins, per-game return figures or a made-up welcome amount here.
Opinions are labelled as opinions and sit in the verdict and the pros and cons. The review awards no star rating or score, because this site measured nothing itself that would support one. Some of the help articles Stake publishes carry older dates, so check the live terms before you rely on a detail such as a withdrawal timeline.
Stake Casino Overview
Stake.com is an online casino and sportsbook that launched in 2017 with a set of in-house games called Stake Originals. Since then it has added a large third-party slots lobby, live dealer tables, a sportsbook and Stake Poker, so one account now covers all four. The interface comes in 17 languages, English among them, and the wallet holds crypto and CAD side by side.
For a Canadian player the product is easy to sum up. It is crypto-first, with a CAD route through Interac, and it is run offshore from Curaçao. You register through a partner link, enter the offer code in your account within 24 hours, and then use the same account for every product. The minimum age is 18, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher.
Canada-specific rules come before anything else. Stake.com excludes Ontario under its Terms, and Alberta players use Stake’s Alberta site. Everything in this review describes Stake.com for the rest of the country.
Who Owns Stake?
Medium Rare N.V. owns and operates Stake.com. It is registered in Curaçao under number 145353. Some payment processing is handled by two wholly owned subsidiaries: Medium Rare Limited in Nicosia, Cyprus, and MRS Tech Ltd in Larnaca, Cyprus. All three are named on the Terms page of Stake.com.
Stake Canada Ltd. is a different company. Canadian gaming coverage describes it as part of the Easygo / Stake Gaming group, and it holds the registration and licence for Stake’s Alberta site. It runs that site, not Stake.com. The distinction matters because the Alberta product is licensed by the AGLC, while Stake.com holds only its Curaçao licence.
This review does not cover executives or personal wealth, because a player’s decision rests on the licence, the company and the terms.
Stake Licence and Safety
Stake.com holds a licence from the Curaçao Gaming Authority, number OGL/2024/1451/0918. It is not a Canadian provincial licence. If a dispute arises, the consumer protections of a provincial regulator do not attach to a Curaçao licence, and that is the single biggest trade-off a Canadian player accepts.
Stake backs the licence with a few controls:
- Identity checks: KYC Level 2 is required for CAD withdrawals, and Stake can ask for documents at any time under its Terms.
- Provably fair Originals: outcomes of Stake’s own games can be verified on a third-party site.
- Responsible gambling tools: loss, wager and deposit limits, product exclusion, breaks in play and self-exclusion, all in your account settings.
- A complaints policy: you complain within 6 months, Stake acknowledges in writing within 1 week and responds in writing within 4 weeks. Complaints are handled in English.
None of these controls replaces provincial oversight, and a careful player treats them as account-level safeguards, not as a guarantee. The province-by-province position is on the is Stake legal in Canada page.
Stake Registration and Verification
You register through a partner link and enter the offer code in your account within 24 hours. Stake can ask for email and phone verification and for identity documents before a first deposit or withdrawal, and it can ask for them at any time after that. For CAD withdrawals the level you need is KYC Level 2, and the accepted documents are an international passport, a national ID card (both sides) or a driving licence (both sides).
Verify early, so that a document request does not hold up your first withdrawal. Turn on two-factor authentication at the same time, and read the Stake login page for the sign-in steps.
Stake Responsible Gambling Tools
Stake provides loss limits, wager limits and daily deposit limits, product exclusion for casino, sports or both, breaks in play of 1 day, 1 week or 1 month, and self-exclusion with a minimum of 6 months before a return-to-play review. Setting or lowering a limit is instant, raising or removing one waits 24 hours, and reopening a closed account has a 24-hour mandatory cooling-off. The range is wide. The responsible gambling page lists each tool and the provincial help lines.
Stake Casino Games
The library holds 6,000+ casino games, with slots from 260+ publishers, 150+ live titles and more than 30 Stake Originals such as Plinko, Mines, Crash, Dice and Limbo. Poker has its own cash tables and tournaments. Most games have a free Fun Play mode, which is the easiest way to test a title before you spend anything.
The provider list is strong. Pragmatic Play, Hacksaw Gaming, Nolimit City and Titan Gaming supply the slots, and Evolution, Pragmatic Play Live and Animo Studios supply the live tables.
Stake adds an Only on Stake line of exclusives that outside studios build on the Stake Engine. The size of the lobby is also the main complaint: you search for titles more than you browse. The Stake casino games page walks through each category.
Stake Bonuses and VIP
Stake does not publish a fixed welcome amount. The welcome offer comes through a redemption code supplied by an affiliate partner, and you enter it in your account within 24 hours of signing up. That makes the offer a feature of the link you register through, not of Stake’s own pages, and it is why this review prints no figure. The Stake promo code and Stake bonus pages explain how it works.

What Stake does publish is a rewards structure built around rakeback and VIP. Rakeback returns 3.5% of the house edge on casino games and 3.5% of the rake in poker, and it unlocks at Bronze (10,000 wagered) or by joining through an affiliate partner. VIP has 15 levels, from Bronze to Obsidian. Bronze brings weekly bonuses every Saturday, a monthly bonus, level-up bonuses and rakeback. Platinum tiers add reloads, and the upper Platinum and Diamond tiers add a dedicated VIP host.
The weekly bonus is released on Saturdays and is based on your previous seven days of play and your level. The monthly bonus arrives once a month by email, with the VIP level setting a base amount and the previous month’s wagering increasing it. The ladder is on the Stake VIP Program page.
Other promotions include Daily Races with $100,000 every 24 hours, a $75,000 Weekly Raffle and time-limited bonus drops. A deposit bonus carries a rollover, covered in the payments section below. Read the terms of any bonus before you accept it.
Stake Payments in Canada
CAD runs through an Interac bank transfer in local-currency mode. Deposits show a status that can take up to 24 hours, and withdrawals go back to the same banking method in up to 3 business days. CAD withdrawals need KYC Level 2, and Stake requires you to wager 100% of a CAD deposit before you withdraw it.
Crypto is the other route, with 21 coins, no maximum deposit and no maximum withdrawal. Stake publishes no processing time for crypto withdrawals, and it publishes no CAD minimum or maximum either: the withdrawal screen shows the minimum for your method. Wallet tools include Swap Crypto and Stake Vault, and you can buy crypto in the wallet through Swap Connect, Mesh, MoonPay and Swapped. Stake can charge a withdrawal fee at its discretion, and crypto withdrawals show a per-coin network fee. The full process is on Stake deposits and withdrawals.
Stake Sportsbook
The sportsbook offers live and pre-match betting with ice hockey at the front: the NHL is listed first, and the AHL, ECHL and several European leagues follow. Moneyline, puck line and totals are standard. The feature list is cash-out on selected markets, Same Game Multi and Stake Shield for multis, and NHL Boosted Odds is the main promotion for Canadians.
Sportsbook bets earn 3.5% rakeback on theoretical value and count three times as fast toward VIP progress, so a hockey bettor is not left out of the rewards. The details are on Stake Sportsbook Canada. The sportsbook is not available in Ontario.
Stake Mobile Experience
There is no dedicated iOS or Android app. Stake works as a PWA, so you add Stake.com to your home screen from the phone browser and it opens from an icon. The account, wallet and both products are the same as on desktop. That is enough for most players, but it means no store listing and no app-store notifications. The Stake app page lists the steps for iPhone and Android.
Stake Customer Support
Live chat runs 24/7, email is available and the help centre covers account, bonus and payment questions. The interface comes in 17 languages, although complaints are handled in English. If you need to raise a formal complaint, the complaints policy sets the timelines described above. For login trouble, the Stake login page lists the common causes and fixes.
Stake Community and Reputation
Stake runs community channels on Telegram and X and has forum communities, where bonus drops and announcements appear. A bonus drop is a first-come, first-served code that is case-sensitive and redeemed from the Offers section of your account, so speed and exact typing both matter. Stake lists partnerships that include Drake, UFC, Everton FC, Kun Agüero, Iker Casillas, Patrice Evra, Alex Pereira, Eden Hazard, Team Vitality, Astralis and X Games. Stake also says it has paid out around $14 billion in bonuses and rewards since it reinvented VIP in 2019, with almost 1 million players in the VIP program. Those are Stake’s own figures, and this review has no way to audit them.
Independent discussion about Stake happens on public forums and Reddit too. This review does not quote those threads, because it cannot vouch for an individual account of a casino, good or bad.
Stake Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Very large library with in-house Originals | Curaçao licence, no provincial protection |
| CAD through Interac plus 21 crypto coins | Ontario is excluded, and Alberta is served by a separate site |
| 3.5% rakeback and a VIP ladder up to Obsidian | No dedicated iOS or Android app |
| NHL sportsbook with boosted odds | No fixed welcome figure |
| Live chat 24/7 and a complaints policy with set times | 100% of a CAD deposit must be wagered before a CAD withdrawal |
| Free Fun Play on most games | The crypto-first wallet is a learning curve for newcomers |
Stake Casino Verdict
Stake.com suits Canadian players outside Ontario and Alberta who want a huge library, rakeback, a deep VIP ladder and an NHL sportsbook in one account, and who accept a Curaçao licence and a crypto-first wallet. The strongest parts are the library, the rewards structure and the sportsbook depth for hockey. The weakest are the licence, the missing fixed welcome figure and the manual PWA install. It is a weaker fit for anyone who wants a provincial licence, a store-based app or a single welcome figure to compare. If provincial regulation matters to you, the regulated operators in your own province are the right place to look. This review is information, not advice.
The players who get the most from Stake.com are the hockey bettor who wants NHL markets and casino play on one balance, the crypto holder who wants a wallet that handles 21 coins, and the high-volume player who values rakeback and a VIP host. Anyone in Ontario or Alberta, anyone who needs a provincial licence and anyone under the age limit should look elsewhere.
For the rest of the site, start from Stake Casino Canada, and use the Stake promo code page if you are about to register.
Gambling is for adults (18+, or the age of majority in your province). Think of it as entertainment, never income, and set your limits before you play. Tools and help lines are in the responsible gambling guide.

Stake Casino Review FAQ
Is Stake Casino legit?
Stake.com is owned and operated by Medium Rare N.V. and holds a Curaçao Gaming Authority licence, number OGL/2024/1451/0918. It runs identity checks, publishes a complaints policy with set response times and offers provably fair Originals. It is a licensed offshore operator, not a Canadian provincially regulated one, and that distinction is the part to weigh.
Who owns Stake?
Medium Rare N.V., a company registered in Curaçao under number 145353, owns and operates Stake.com. Some payment processing runs through two wholly owned subsidiaries in Cyprus, Medium Rare Limited and MRS Tech Ltd. The Terms page on Stake.com names all three.
Is Stake a Canadian company?
No. Stake.com is run from Curaçao. The company behind Stake's regulated Alberta site is a separate entity, Stake Canada Ltd.
Is Stake safe for Canadian players?
Stake.com has a Curaçao licence, identity verification and responsible gambling tools. It does not carry a provincial licence, so the protections of a provincial regulator do not attach to your account. Turn on two-factor authentication, use a unique password and set limits before your first deposit.
Does Stake have a forum?
Stake runs community channels on Telegram and X and has forum communities. Bonus drops are posted on its Telegram channels and on X, so those are the places to follow for time-limited codes.
Are Stake games fair?
Stake Originals are provably fair, and you can verify outcomes through a third-party site. Third-party slots use random number generators, and live games run with real dealers in a studio.
Is Stake worth it for Canadian players?
For players outside Ontario and Alberta who are comfortable with a Curaçao licence and a crypto-first wallet, yes. The library, rakeback, VIP ladder and NHL sportsbook are all strong. Anyone who wants a provincial licence, a store-based app or a single welcome figure to compare should look at the regulated operators in their own province instead.
